Welcome

My Story

Almost 15 years of working in both the public and private spheres has given me a wealth of practical knowledge of the planning system. I enjoy exploring planning solutions but I am also realistic and understand the difficulties often faced in terms of delays, cost and uncertainty.

I have a Masters in Town and Country Planning that centred on strategic planning and renewable energy and am passionate about sustainability, building design, heritage and landscape planning. All of this, combined with my passion for the beauty of Cornwall, has led me to create my own Planning Consultancy.

I am happy to look at any project, no matter how big or small, across Cornwall and the South West. Ultimately, I want to help to make positive change, in the place I call home.

Motivation

Cornish born and raised, I understand the need for better homes and jobs; safeguarding and diversifying existing businesses; preserving the natural and historic environment, whilst adapting to change. We should ensure the beauty of our landscapes and places we all love are retained for future generations. This is at the heart of what I do.

I know that the decisions we take now, no matter how small, will have a legacy. How do we tackle things like affordable housing and job creation, without impacting our countryside or contribution to climate change? Planning is at the heart of this dilemma and I want to try and assist  to find answers to these broader issues, at a local level.

Values

Communication: Clear and reliable planning advice will ensure clarity and certainty, right from the start. Continual feedback throughout the decision-making process will ensure you are always up to speed.

Engagement: Working with neighbours and local stakeholders is often key to ensuring your project runs smoothly, as is early collaboration with the local council and professional consultants. Having open discussions at the outset is critical to achieving a positive decision, in a timely manner.

Enhancement: Good planning is all about creating better places, not only in design terms, but also from a sustainability and biodiversity point of view. New development should enhance places where we live, work and play.

Professional

I believe that professional planning advice should not be unachievable. As I am a small practice, I am able to offer a consultancy level service at affordable prices. Every project is different and I offer a tailor made approach to best suit your needs. Please get in touch and talk to me about your situation.

Collaboration

I work closely with experts across a variety of fields - from designers, heritage, ecologists, environmental health and highways consultants, to renewable energy providers, structural engineers, building regulation and local construction companies.

I believe in supporting local, small, companies and feel that this helps both to streamline the process and turn your project from paper form into reality, whilst utilising local expertise.
